San Francisco Dept. of Public Health

Company Overview

Our Identity/Who We Are
The San Francisco Department of Public Health is an integrated health department and we fulfill our mission through two divisions: the Population Health Division, primarily responsible for protecting the health of our population, and the San Francisco Health Network, primarily responsible for promoting the health of our patients. Central administrative functions (i.e. finance, human resources, information technology, and policy and planning) promote integration and support the work of the two divisions.

Our Mission
The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans.

Our Vision

The San Francisco Department of Public Health provides continuous care for people, wherever they are – in clinics, hospitals, at home, in jail, or transitional housing. As San Francisco’s public health system, we also provide emergency, trauma, behavioral health, and substance use care to any San Franciscan who needs it.

The San Francisco Health Network provides direct health services to insured and uninsured residents of San Francisco, including those most socially and medically vulnerable by annually connecting more than 100,000 San Franciscans to quality healthcare in our clinics and hospitals, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and community-centered clinics.

The Population Health Division addresses public health concerns, including consumer safety, health promotion and prevention, and monitors threats to the public’s health by implementing traditional and innovative public health interventions.
