Holtz Children's is known worldwide for its care of critically ill newborns in its neonatal intensive care unit, which is one of the largest in the United States and boasts some of the best medical outcomes. In collaboration with the Miami Transplant Institute, Holtz Children's is one of only three centers in the country that specializes in pediatric multi-organ transplants. It is home to one of only three state-accredited comprehensive children's kidney failure centers and one of the largest pediatric kidney transplant programs in the world. The Children's Heart Center at Holtz Children's is the only comprehensive children's heart program in South Florida. In partnership with the University of Miami, Holtz Children's also trains the most pediatric physicians of any medical center in the southeastern United States.
Summary:
- The Outcome Data Coordinator is responsible for collecting, validating, analyzing, and reporting nursing-sensitive quality indicators, including data for the national Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI).
This role supports nursing leadership at Holtz, Women's, and Jackson Main hospitals by developing and maintaining dashboards and reports that inform quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. - The overall goal of this role is to provide accurate, actionable insights that drive improvements in patient outcomes, support nursing excellence, and enhance organizational transparency through reliable data reporting and trend analysis.
Responsibilities - Coordinate the timely collection, validation, and submission of nursing-sensitive indicators, including NDNQI data, across Holtz, Women's, and Jackson Main hospitals.
- Serve as the primary liaison to internal stakeholders and external benchmarking systems (e.g., NDNQI, Vizient) to ensure timely and accurate nursing data submission.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and scorecards that track unit- and system-level performance against key quality metrics, regulatory standards, and nursing excellence benchmarks.
- Conduct detailed analyses of nursing-sensitive indicators to identify performance trends, improvement opportunities, and areas requiring escalation or intervention.
- Translate complex data into actionable insights and visualizations to support decision-making by nursing leaders, quality teams, and executive leadership.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership, informatics, and quality departments to align nursing outcomes with enterprise-wide performance improvement strategies.
- Provide subject matter expertise to nursing units on indicator definitions, data abstraction methodologies, and performance interpretation.
- Offer education and training to frontline staff and leaders on the use of dashboards, audit tools, and data collection systems.
- Support Magnet and Pathways to Excellence designation and re-designation efforts by ensuring the integrity, visibility, and continuous improvement of nurse-sensitive indicators.
- Stay current on national nursing quality benchmarks, NDNQI updates, and evidence-based performance improvement practices to maintain regulatory readiness and support a culture of nursing excellence.
- Perform all other related job duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience:
Require 3+ years relevant experience (clinical, quality, or analytics). Prefer experience with NDNQI, nurse-sensitive indicators, and data reporting systems.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Master's degree in related field preferred.
Credentials:
Current RN license in the state of Florida is preferred
Certification in healthcare quality, informatics, or data analytics is preferred.
