Lakeridge Health is recruiting for a seasoned Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) who will report directly to the President & CEO of Lakeridge Health. The successful candidate, who will be hired for a 12 to 18 month contract, will play a central role in ensuring system-wide coordination, alignment, and accountability for philanthropic activity across the organization.
Requirements
What you bring to this role:
- 10+ years of executive level leadership experience in large complex philanthropic organizations, preferably in healthcare or other multi-stakeholder environments
- System-level experience who has focused on "system-wide strategy" for the long-term sustainability of the health system
- Proven success with organizations going through transitions and change
- Deep philanthropic experience in capital campaigns and fundraising expertise
- Fundraising program evaluation expertise
- Demonstrated exceptional people skills
- A style of cooperation and respect with a focus on getting the job done (an executor)
- Proficiency working at the local level, with hospital and staff, physicians and stakeholders
- A practised collaborator working with senior leaders
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders across a system
Skills and Competencies
- Strategic and results-oriented: Ability to develop and implement a system-wide philanthropic vision and strategy
- Collaboration & Influence: Skilled at building trust and alignment across independent foundations and internal stakeholders
- Fundraising Expertise: proven track record of guiding and motivating fundraising teams and setting strategies for capital campaigns, major gift portfolios, corporate partnerships, and annual giving
- Change management: experience in guiding organizations through significant transitions
- Relationship building: The role involves building trusted partnerships with executive leadership and boards, as well as convening and chairing a "Philanthropy Leadership Council." The ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders is crucial.
- Governance Acumen: Understanding of board governance and nonprofit accountability practices
- Brand and Communications: Ability to guide brand alignment and unify messaging across different entities
- Operational Integration: Knowledge of shared service models, project management, prospect clearance and fundraising infrastructure
- Analytical Skills: Competence in using data and KPIs to measure and improve fundraising effectiveness
Education
- University degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Fundraising, Public Relations, Health Administration, or a related discipline
- MBA, CFRE designation or equivalent is an asset
What Lakeridge Health offers:
- Annualized compensation of $300,000 contract
- A contract position for 12 to 18 months
- Hybrid work – 1 – 2 days in office
